Emily Shields & Dermot McQuaid – Smile – Guinness Intl Blues on the Bay Warrenpoint

Emily Shields and her uncle Dermot McQuaid singing at Fusion at the Guinness International Blues on the Bay 2015. Emily is 18 years old and from Northern Ireland. She is singing ‘Smile’, the melody which was written by Charlie Chaplin for his film ‘Modern Times’ in 1936. The lyrics were later written by John Turner and Geoffrey Parsons in 1954 along with the song’s title. Emily has been singing for a number of years and has played support act for Cara Dillon, The Fureys and will play support act for Andy Irvine at the Fiddler’s Green Folk Festival 2015 in Rostrevor, Northern Ireland. Emily’s uncle Dermot McQuaid has been on the music scene for 30 years and has played with many of the greats of Irish and Blue and country music.
