Back To School and Full Of Beans for Northern Ireland Hospice

With new uniforms, timetables and early mornings, getting ready for the new school year can be stressful for all involved. Local student, Emily Shields is calling on parents and students to stop, take a break and host a coffee morning for Northern Ireland Hospice on Thursday 19th September.

The student, who has started sixth form, was winner of the prestigious ‘Beauty with a Purpose’ category in the Miss Northern Ireland 2013 finals. As the most charitable beauty queen, Emily received the award for her work which has included producing two CDs for Newry Hospice and project schemes in Kenya and Romania. Proving she’s more than just a pretty face, the 16 year old is now promoting the Northern Ireland Hospice coffee morning as face of the campaign.

Kick starting her academic year, Emily is encouraging everyone to host a coffee morning for Northern Ireland Hospice saying;

“After the rush preparing to go back to school and the stress of awaiting exam results, I can think of nothing better than taking time out to enjoy a coffee break with friends. I’m calling on all parents and students to host a coffee morning, either with classmates in your sixth form centre or with parents at a PTA meeting. As well as taking a well deserved break, hosting a coffee morning will ensure the new school year starts on a high, helping Hospice continue to care for thousands of local people with terminal illnesses.”

“Also, Northern Ireland Hospice has made organising a coffee morning as stress-free as possible. They will provide everything you need, including complementary Bewley’s coffee, leaving you to simply enjoy the event knowing that you’re helping a great cause!”

Every cup of coffee poured will mean two pounds has been raised for Hospice and every pound will make a big difference says Lynn Boyce, NI Hospice Events Fundraiser;

“This year, our Coffee Morning needs to raise £75,000. This will help ensure that Hospice continues to provide its vital services to local people and their families. Every £30 raised will provide an hour of specialist Hospice Nursing care to a patient in their own home.”
